Be a Man My Son
Enkipaata is one of the rituals Masaai boys pass through on their way to becoming a man. Boys aged about 14 to 16 form a new age group and leave their village to wander their territory for up to four months before finally returning to go through the most important ritual in Masaai culture, Emuratare, the circumcision. The boys in these images are in Enkipaata, and their pride in their ritual and culture shines through.
